Things to see & do |
St John the Baptist, Burford
One of the oldest buildings in Burford is a magnificent church of almost cathedral-like proportions. It was built from around 1175 and is described in Simon Jenkins' book "England's Thousand Best Churches" as the "queen of Oxfordshire, a paragon and museum of the English Parish Church". It is overflowing with beautiful artefacts and fascinating stories of history.

Where traders used to pay their tolls in Tudor times there is now a wide-ranging collection illustrating Burford's social and industrial past, including the town maces, seals and charters, exhibits recalling the trades that flourished here - quarrying, bell-founding, rope-making, brewing and others - and an unusual doll's house. |

Cotswold Wildlife Park
A great family attraction set in 160 acres of beautiful gardens and parkland surrounding a listed Victorian Manor House about two miles from Burford. The Park is home to a fascinating and varied collection of mammals, birds, reptiles and invertebrates from all over the world and aspires to show animals to people - so that they can come to understand and respect all forms of wildlife; to understand what is special about each species, and how the various species have evolved over very long periods of time, adjusting to survive in habitats from many parts of the earth.
